Hillary, you’re the most powerful woman in the world, but we need to talk about that necklace. I’m not judging. Just what the fuck?

Introverts, in contrast, may have strong social skills and enjoy parties and business meetings, but after a while wish they were home in their pajamas. They prefer to devote their social energies to close friends, colleagues, and family. They listen more than they talk, think before they speak, and often feel as if they express themselves better in writing than in conversation. They tend to dislike conflict. Many have a horror of small talk, but enjoy deep discussions. — Susan Cain, Quiet (via alittlefragile)

Inspired by Kuschi’s rant earlier today, the Cougarcrush brain got to thinkin’ about the rigidity of sexual labels and how they don’t do justice to the fluidity and diversity of our self-identifications. My hypothesis is that if we asked ten lesbians why they identify as lesbians, we might just get ten different answers. But our labels - and the ways our cultural discourses limit the possible definitions of those labels - encourage us to think of lesbians and their sexualities in pretty specific ways. And then we make all kinds of assumptions about them when they deviate from those prevailing narratives.
So, being the paradigm subverter that I am, I wanna hear from all of you who are comfortable sharing. Because I think there is a need to open up space for both more labels from which to choose and more flexibility within our current labels. Or just an abandonment of labels completely. I’m not sure yet. But y’ain’t boxin’ me in, yo. Not without my input and consent, anyway.
So if you’re inclined, answer this very scientific question: I identify as ________ because _________. All people who happen upon this post are invited to respond. If you’re human, I’m interested.
I identify as a lesbian because I only fall in love with women. I’ve only had sex with women, too, but even if that weren’t true, I think I would still consider myself a lesbian on accounta the unidirectional mental attraction thing. I enjoy a variety of physical sensations that could be caused by traditional heterosexual sex, but for me sex is about connecting, and I have never had the desire to connect with a male-identified person in that way. I know a lot of people for whom sex is much more about the physicality, and I imagine there is a lot of diversity among their experiences and identifications. I can only speak from my specific location.
Now, I played doctor with pretty much all the kids in the neighborhood, male and female. I do not know if they played doctor with each other. I might have been the corrupting influence on our street. In any event, since we’re exploring these issues, I thought it relevant to mention this. When does childhood experimenting/curiosity become countable? And what the fuck is countable in the first place? And who gets to decide that?
Feel free to completely demolish this paradigm with your awesome diversity of experience and opinion! And however you identify, and whatever your reasons for identifying in that way, I celebrate the hell outta you.
I’m not feeling very ‘Fuck You’ at the moment, but when you see Dolly Parton flipping the flamingo, you reblog that shit. It’s compulsory.

I’m bored and curious which has resulted in this random post about handwriting. I was writing some random things in my notebook and got to thinking. What kind of handwriting do my followers have? What do you usually write about? Are you a leftie or a righty and do you prefer pencil or a pen? Do you like writing on a plain, ruled or squared paper? And do you doodle in your diary/notebook or do you keep it strictly filled with words?
So here’s a request (which I’m sure will be ignored by most, but whatever, I’m still throwing it out there). Write something, anything on your favorite type of paper (or any near you) and take a picture of it/scan it and post it in the reblog of this post. I’d really like to know all the different kind of writing styles that’s out there and bonus points for answering those above questions.
And so that it wouldn’t be totes unfair, here’s my little note for you guys.
Thank you.
